Skizzy Mars Ft. Biggie Smalls - Colours (Xaphoon)(DJ 21azy Remix)

This mash-up/remix has 5 artists involved!! This is one of those songs that reek of the future. It smashes all the stereotypes that have been holding back the growth of music for a while. It crosses a few genres and boundaries which is what I like about it.

When I listen to this track I think about change. I think about the person I was and the person I am becoming. Subtle changes, under the surface type shit. Evolution. Ascension if you will.

When I think of subtle changes I think of a lake, placid on the surface. Now take a stone of any size and throw it into the lake. The ripples immediately change the surface of the lake. They wreak havoc from shore to shore. After a while all the chaos will subside and the lake will go back to its calm, original state. If you weren’t there to see the change it would be as if it had never happened. On the surface that is. If you look under the surface down to the core of the lake the bed will show you every rock that has ever been thrown into the lake making the changes permanent. All though unseen from the shore, if you were to look under the surface you would see them all lying on the lake bottom as clear as day. This reminds me that you can never judge anything at a glance. To know what makes someone you have to know what changed them. More often then not these moments are not written on the surface but they are not completely hidden either, you just need to know where to look.

This song just puts a pep in my step and makes me reach for understanding. Understanding in myself and those around me who matter

La Mar by The Beautiful Girls

They really give off a Jack Johnson feel, that whole ‘beach’ vibe.

This is a really mellow song, it makes me think of laying on the beach with the sun as my blanket and the waves as my music. When I listen to this I see my girl. I guess that happens when you are in love. Things that stir passion within you will remind you of those who hold your heart. I can see her on the beach by the light of the fire. She is walking away from me but she is calling me to her. Barefooted with sand sticking to her ocean sprayed legs. With only a smile she crumbles all my castle walls as if they were made only of sand. She wields, with only a look the the power of the ocean whose never ending waves shape the very earth we know.

I never really stood a chance.

Your Song - Ellie Goulding (blackmill dubstep remix)

Play it before you start reading.

This is a song that i can listen to over and over again. Ellie Goulding is so talented she not only writes her own shit but she plays the guitar, drums and the piano. She is from London and she released her first album in 2010.

This song is a cover of an Elton John song which was also used in Moulin Rouge. So this is really a remix of a cover song…. Her original version is great and the original original is awesome too. but there is just something about this one that really grabs me. It flows really well.

When I hear it I think of high school. randomly enough. I think of the streets i use to drive on. I think of all the freedom that I took for granted. The freedom I salted with my inability  to truly appreciate it. Then… while I was there. I was so worried about everything that didn’t matter. Now when I look back I cant help but think of how i would do so many thing differently. Which leads me to wonder about right now. It makes me think of how I will look back on these years. In 5 years when I look back would i have done it differently? I’m sure no matter the person the answer is always yes. That’s why they say ‘hindsight is 20/20”. It’s always so clear when you look back, when you are not entangled in the situation you can look at it from all angles and make best decision possible.

This song makes think some deep shit a guess. Or maybe I’m just stoned. Either way the song is good.

(listen to this when you are feeling really mellow or you are down for some self reflection)

Penny And The Quarters - You and Me

I first heard this song from the movie Blue Valentine.

It has a really ‘old soul’ feel to it. When I hear it I am transported to a 1958 prom or something. It’s really easy going and makes me love my lady more every time I hear it. Its a simple song so I will keep my thoughts simple along with it. Just hit play and let it wash your worries away.

Play this for your lady.

Mr. Little Jeans - The Suburbs (Arcade Fire Cover)

This is a little something I found on the Hype Machine. As far as cover songs go this is the bees knees! Her voice is super sexy which gives it that melodic sound. Its almost enchanting.

When I hear this it makes think of setting everything I own on fire and watching in burn especially at 3:50 in. When the drum kicks I just think to my self “fuck it”.

If you smoke I suggest you fire up whatever you do smoke, hit play and watch it burn. I think you will get what I’m talking about. It makes me want to have sex and rebel against everything.

It makes me want to break away from the norm and head in a new direction with plumes of smoke rising from my wake of renegade flames setting fire to everything I thought I knew.

This is one of those get lit up and chill the fuck out songs.

Hold You Down - Laws ft Emilio Rojas & Big K.R.I.T.

This is another good one. Laws is chill but I really like Emilio Rojas flow…A LOT. I dig the whole ‘roof-top’ theme with the graffiti and the industrial hood look. but I really cant say much for Laws’ flow. Emilio Rojas (first rap) is super sick. He almost flutters his rhymes out. When he says “never be given he government taxes, none of my benjamins none of my jacksons” I think that is a really slick flow.

I will say it was a classy shout out to Guru on Laws’ part. I thought that was well done. R.I.P. to one of the most influential MC’s to ever grace the game. This song makes me want to skate for some reason.

Neon Indian - Polish Girl

This song makes me think of the memories I have forgotten. It takes me down a road i have walked a thousand times in a place I have never been to. But a place i use to know.

The rest of their stuff is OK but this song really gets me. Puts me in a good yet….weird mood. It’s almost like nostalgia.

Nas vs. Modest Mouse - Ether

This is from the mix tape ’ Modest Nas’ its all Modest Mouse vs. Nas mashed up by Dikky.

As far as mash-ups go I really like this one, I feel like it stands out. When I hear it makes me think of drowning in the best possible way…. I guess that sounds kind of crazy.

This is by far the best dis of all time. I mean this original Nas track was released on stillmatic. Purchased and listened to by MILLIONS!

They are cool now I guess but still jay-z must know that as sick as he is at times he was simply destroyed by Nas.

Alex Clare

Cover of and Etta James song ‘Damn Your Eyes”

He has such a dope voice. His sound reminds me of Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys. He is going to explode out of the UK. He adds a touch (just a touch thank god) of dubstep to his songs it gives it a really fresh sound. hands down my favorite voice of 2011.

The weeknd-

If you haven heard of him its ok, you’re not too late. You can still download his work for free….. FROM HIS PAGE. Yeah he rolls like that and I have to say I think it’s a great move for up and coming artists. It makes them seem more…real…. like they are really into what they do and not the end game.

Obviously they are getting paid for shows and other things. and who doesn’t want ‘racks on racks on RAAACKS’ I just think its cool to see artists that meet today’s social media frenzy head on. I follow him on twitter and he is pretty funny, he clowns on other ‘rappers’ for trying to remix his shit. His tweet: “signed artists should be giving me gwop for wack ass remixes lol…”   I’ve heard most of the remixes out there for his shit. 90% are trash. Just fuckin up the first 30 seconds of a good song. Whenever I hear weak ass shit I just think to my self ‘the fuck outta here!’

I can only post one mp3 per day. So I will post some YouTube songs. He doesn’t really have any videos yet. There is a photo shoot recording for ‘Pardon Le Dopeness’   and they use his track loft music it gives you a good idea as to what his music should make you think about. Sex, drugs, bitches in lofts. It’s really that simple.
